Dear SCC & Friends,
Put on my yoke… ~Matthew 11:30
Reflection #155
A yoke is a wooden crosspiece that is fastened around the necks of two animals and attached to a cart or plow. If a yoke is improperly balanced, it will chafe and hinder progress rather than ease and facilitate the load they carry. The very nature of being properly yoked is to be in harmony and heading in the same direction. We have many different loads and burdens, both seen and unseen. You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. ~Eph. 4:4 MSG That Scripture is the polar opposite of being “unequally yoked” or going it alone… If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. ~African Proverb~ None of us will come into spiritual maturity on our own. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. ~Prov. 27:17 We need each other and are blessed to have each other.
Someone once shared a word with me that the Lord would not lighten my load but would strengthen my back… It was a great encouragement at a challenging time and a clear reminder that we can do what He’s called us to do… We can carry far more than we think when it’s His yoke rather than our own. A single Clydesdale horse can pull up to eight thousand pounds, but two can pull up to twenty-four thousand pounds. Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. ~Ecc. 4:9 Burdens become manageable, and strength increases as we walk together in the purposes of God. The Lord is in it all, even the little stuff… Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden. ~Corrie Ten Boom~ Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. ~Matt. 11:29-30 …Made for these days… Keep up the good work!
Together in Christ,
