Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 10/16/24

Dear SCC & Friends,

…seek, and you shall find… ~Matthew 7:7

Reflection #241

If something is misplaced, it’s lost until you find it. It may be right in front of you or left in regions unknown. A few weeks ago I “misplaced my wallet.” The last time I used it was on a Friday night… no problem… It turned out I didn’t need it on the weekend and figured it was probably hiding in plain sight. Monday morning rolled around and I did a light search. My wallet had my driver’s license, credit and bank cards tied to automatic payments, medical insurance cards and more… On Tuesday I started to get antsy. I had thoroughly searched the house – went through all the drawers, under the cushions and furniture, my closet and dresser, the garage, my car, even went through the outside trash. Where the heck was my wallet? Tuesday night I again went through every room… pants, sweatshirts, briefcase and car. You may ask, “Did you pray?” Yes, but it was more of a quick plea than engaging the Lord.

He who seeks finds… ~Matt. 7:8 On Wednesday it was 1:00 a.m. and I went downstairs, as I couldn’t sleep. I reminded the Lord of the many times He had found things for me and for others… “You and You alone are the only one who knows where it is… Would you show me where it is? When I find it, all glory and honor to You!” I can’t explain it, it wasn’t a technique, but I knew He heard me…I got up Wednesday morning and “for some reason” went out to the three trash cans by the side of the house… I opened the fifty-gallon middle container, which was full to the brim, and started pulling out everything… but still nothing… I was just about to walk away when “for some reason”, I flipped the top of the receptacle backwards and tilted everything at an angle and reached down to one last piece of crepe paper and pulled it out… And there at the very bottom in the left corner was my wallet! Eureka! The trash was picked up on Thursday, but not my wallet. Even the very hairs of your head are numbered. ~Matt. 10:30 Be it big or small He is in it all… Keep up the good work!

All glory and honor to Him,

Kevin
