Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 1/29/25

Dear SCC & Friends,

Have this attitude…~Philippians 2:5

Reflection #256

There are a myriad of adjectives to modify the word attitude…bad, rotten, self-serving, lazy, mean, negative or even disgusting. Conversely, an attitude may be objectified as good, kind, exemplary, positive, selfless and inspiring. Our general attitude is our point of view as revealed by our thoughts, words and actions. It emerges out of our inward disposition towards people and circumstances. In aviation, attitude refers to the orientation of an aircraft in relation to the horizon. The analogy holds up regarding our spiritual direction as we address the future… Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus… ~Philip. 2:5 Whatever is on the horizon, we will not be alone… Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. ~Matt. 11:29-30 MSG

It’s safe to say all of us know what it means to have a bad attitude… “I don’t deserve this!” “I’m sick of this!” “Something needs to change!” The truth is not something needs to change, but rather someone needs to change. We all need periodic attitude adjustments. It’s in our nature to blame others for the shortcomings and disappointments of life… “The coach didn’t play me.” “The boss plays favorites…” The “blame game” is a one-way street to nowhere. The remarkable thing is, we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. ~Chuck Swindoll~ The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation which makes spiritual transformation possible… It is an ongoing process. do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is… ~Rom. 12:2 An attitude that pleases God is contagious… Keep up the good work!

Made for these days,

Kevin
