SCC Covid-19 Update 5/13/20

May 13, 2020

Dear SCC & Friends,

Update #10

There’s an old song…Slow down, you’re moving too fast! Go, go, go…You need to be productive! Get back on track! Don’t look back! You’re losing ground, etc. The silver lining in the COVID 19 cloud has afforded many of us the opportunity to refocus…Not that everything was out of kilter, but simply slowing down enough to take stock of what is important and essential. The shutdown has affected many of us to re-center on family, meaningful relationships and faith…The key is trusting God Himself, not simply what we know or believe we know.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength…  Isaiah 40:28-31a

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield…Let us continue to be steadfast and patient in our attitudes and actions. May the Lord help any who may be struggling with anxious thoughts, worry or fear. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. I have been blessed and my heart gladdened by your faithfulness and kindness in these days. We are not behind or ahead of schedule which is TBD…to be determined. Our plan and purpose is to move forward with peace, wisdom and grace. We will meet again when the time is right, and we’re closer to that time than when we began. Our virtual contacts have been a plus because genuine relationships are not virtual but substantive and real. Iron sharpens iron, so one man (person) sharpens another.  Proverbs 27:17 Keep up the good work!

Erica and Erin did such a good job for us last week. Our “end game” is fruit, and fruit that remains. Let’s continue to pray for the President, Congress and Judiciary, our missionaries, local and state lawmakers, for churches in our area and beyond…for families and those who have suffered loss of life and livelihood…for revival in our hearts to serve and bless the Lord. God bless you!

Yours in Christ’s love,

Kevin
