Dear SCC & Friends,
In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. ~Prov. 14:23
Update #47
Have you ever been asked to do something with little or no desire to do it? This has been particularly true for me in terms of calling or vocation. At some point in your life you probably heard, “You’d be perfect for this job or you’ll do great…I knew you were the right person for the job.” The clincher is, “This job will look really good on your résumé.” Padding a résumé can be a full-time job, but all too often leads only to a dead end. Over the years I have updated my résumé several times with the consistent characteristic that I look better and better with each edit. The more I tuned my résumé the better it looked. I mean with “that résumé” who wouldn’t hire me? Résumés are by nature designed to put our best foot forward, impress and allure, validating options from which to negotiate. Will Rogers, celebrity cowboy and humorist once said, “Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people that they don’t like.” Selah…
Whether you are blue collar or white collar, on the road or stay at home, well known or unknown, in abundance or need, it all boils down to trusting the placement and purpose of the One who made us, the One who knows us. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O Lord, Thou dost know it all. ~Ps. 139:4Here’s your real résumé…You are a living epistle filled with the love and purposes of God…You are fearfully and wonderfully made…a sinner saved by grace through faith, and that not of yourself…An aspiring servant and lover of all that God loves…redeemed, restored and loved! Sign me up! Hire me Lord! For I would rather be a doorkeeper in Your house than to take my fate upon myself. He’s our Rock in a world built on sand. If you have a job, thank the Lord. If it’s not a job you like, thank Him anyway. If you don’t have a job, pray knowing He will provide. God is in our present circumstances now and always. The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. ~Prov. 16:9 Keep up the good work!
Thank you Lord,
Kevin
