SCC – Covid-19 Update 2/10/21

Dear SCC & Friends,

Many a man proclaims his own loyalty, but who can find a trustworthy man? ~Proverbs 20:6

Update #49

It’s been a number of years since we remodeled our kitchen and family room. At the time, we searched out several contractors and finally settled on one referred to us by a good friend. The contractor and his workers were very good. My dilemma was his estimate was so much higher than other contractors, and I had to ask why? I’ll never forget his answer, “Our work speaks for itself, and no one else would give you a complete five-year warranty.”Okay… I’d been in sales and marketing… “Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.” I mean, “a man’s word is his bond,” and our confident contractor said all the right things. The hammer fell when he unexpectedly “blew town” along with his “five-year warranty.” He completely vanished. As you might imagine, the phrase “5-year warranty” does not have the positive allure it once did.

A promise is only as good as the one making it. The question remains, “Who can find a trustworthy man?” If you have found such a person or persons, you are truly blessed. Trust is the basis of all good relationships. Much of the counseling I’ve done over the years has dealt with breaches of trust… When trust is lost or broken, it takes mutual vulnerability, honesty and sincerity for meaningful restoration. These days are marked by an obvious erosion of trust, political rancor and breakdowns of civility in the public square. We fall short if we allow the influence and power of culture to limit our confidence in the Lord and love for our neighbor. We were made for something better and higherBlessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. ~Jer. 17:7 We were made for such a time as this…to know, love and serve for His honor and glory. Keep up the good work!

Yours in Him,

Kevin
