SCC Covid-19 Update 3/10/21

Dear SCC & Friends,

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ~ Lamentations 3:22-23

Update #53

How would you define steadfast love? Does resolute, incessant and unwavering come to mind? Steadfast love is the opposite of being temperamental, moody or fickle. The Lord’s love is an eternal constant, unflappable regardless of time or circumstance. New mercies (compassions) are a manifestation of His love and will never cease as they appear at the dawn of each day. Every morning of every day is filled with new love and mercy if we can only see it. This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. ~Ps. 118:24 New can refer to something existing, but seen, experienced or acquired for the first time. Scripture loves the word new…new wine, new song, a new commandment, new mercies, new creation, new covenant, new day…

Solomon said there was nothing new under the sun. That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one might say, “See this, it is new”? Already it has existed for ages which were before us. ~Ecc.1:9-10 He is referring to temporal things and circumstances of this material world, not the daily new mercies poured out for us from God. May we not settle and miss the dynamic of newness found exclusively in our Lord and His provision. God is love, and knowing His love is our greatest security and hope both now and in the future. His love never fails. Just as He is eternal, so is His love. Tomorrow morning means new mercies! Let’s arise from our beds looking for His mercies in a new way. if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. ~2 Cor. 5:17 Keep up the good work!

In Christ’s love,

Kevin
