Dear SCC & Friends,
And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary. Gal. 6:9
Update #60
We reap what we sow. This is a principle for all people regardless of their faith or circumstance. It can be an uncomfortable thought unless we approve of what we sow and how we sow. Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. ~2 Cor. 9:6-7 We usually think that verse is about money, but I believe it’s fair to say it’s about our lives in total. He goes on to explain, And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed… Selah…
Sowing is both a singular act and ongoing process. When we were younger, well-meaning friends and family said, “If you want a house, you better ‘buy now’ or you’ll miss the boat.” We missed that boat and a few others because we weren’t supposed to be on them. God’s timing is perfect. Regardless of income, we did our best to sow our time, money and energy into God’s purpose, placement and people. Years later, the Lord provided our home, as we reaped a miraculous set of circumstances that only He could have arranged, because we still didn’t have the money, but we had Him. Seven years ago, He did it again with our church building. We had rented for over twenty years, and our building went up for sale… on paper we simply did not have enough money…but again we reaped miraculous circumstances and timing that not only allowed the church to buy, but to make improvements and pay off the building years ahead of schedule. Sowing and reaping transcends far more than homes, buildings and material rewards…it’s about sowing love, forgiveness, honor, service, prayers, hospitality, generosity, kindness, time, sacrifice, care. The list is endless, and now is our time. And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. ~Galatians 6:9-10 Keep up the good work!
Sowers in Christ,
