Dear SCC & Friends,
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. ~Genesis 9:22
Update #57
I love the smell of fresh-cut grass. I went to high school and college in Virginia and relished the change of seasons. After a grey, cold and snowy winter, I couldn’t wait for spring. The cherry blossoms at the D.C. Tidal Basin would come to full bloom…the reappearance of robins, blue jays and squirrels…and once again the distant whine of lawnmowers around the neighborhood…and yes, baseball was in the air.
The thaw of winter sets the stage for the emergence of spring. Spring is the time of year when it’s summer in the sun and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens Southern California is unique, as it only snows in the mountains and the weather on December 25th and July 4th could be identical. We are blessed with some of the best weather in the world, but to experience the depth of all four seasons we have to go somewhere else. Not so when it comes to spiritual seasons. Spiritually speaking, the Lord gives us all four seasons, and they rarely follow the calendar. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…~Ecc. 3:1 It is why we are to be prepared in season and out of season…Selah…
God has us in this season. We want change, yet the Lord is primarily working to bring about change in us. He has given us the grace we need to serve and bless. The COVID commentary and controversy linger, still squeezing out mixed messages on nearly a daily basis. We were made for these days…a spiritual season of change, challenge and controversy. We just celebrated Easter, the apogee of our faith…the center of the center. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. ~1 Peter 1:3-4 We have a living hope that endures in every season unto eternity. The price has been paid, the grave is empty, and we have complete victory in Him. Keep up the good work!
In His love,
Kevin
