Dear SCC & Friends,
Update #9
I have always been a sports enthusiast, playing, watching, analyzing and in general enjoying the competition and camaraderie derived from athletics. Locker rooms are filled with catchy posters…“No pain, no gain…There is no I in team,” etc. Now it seems that even non-athletes are using sports clichés as motivation in their vocations; i.e., “It’s game time…The clock is running…Keep your eye on the ball…He really answered the bell…That was a slam dunk!…They dropped the ball…We need a level playing field…They talk a good game…The ball’s in your court…Don’t pull any punches…Are you keeping score?…Also, we have to endure and the plethora of “Monday morning quarterbacks” who are expert prognosticators after an event has occurred. There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new consequences to unforeseen problems. Our motivation and response to the changing landscape makes all the difference. We either react or respond. Reaction to medicine is negative, but if one responds to medicine, he or she is well on their way to recovery and restoration.
COVID 19 is still a very fluid situation, but there is “light at the end of the tunnel.” Some of you were probably ready to go back to “normal” weeks ago. Others remain uncertain and tentative about plans for the summer and into the fall. As weeks have expanded into months, may the Lord continue to help us in the midst of deferral and frustration. Let’s proceed with courage and faith, knowing that the Lord is the One who sustains us in this season of our lives. We will continue to post video/podcasts each Sunday. This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and we will have a special video tribute and sharing. May our prayers, actions and limited fellowship redound to the glory of our Lord who does all things well. His timing is perfect, all His ways are just, and nothing escapes His eye!
And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christrule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulnessin your hearts to God….Colossians 3:14-16
Bless the Lord!
