SCC Covid-19 Update 6/10/20

June 10, 2020

Dear SCC & Friends,

Update #14

Even in the midst of these difficult days, we can know for certain the Lord works everything according to the counsel of His will. He does not sanction nor is the author of murder and mayhem. He is our Lord and Savior who works redemptively from generation to generation. Recently, I was watching Alveda King (MLK’s niece) on television and was struck by the genuineness of her love and compassion. She has suffered much hardship and loss in her life yet was overwhelmingly confident in the love and hope of the Gospel. She noted that her DNA is Nigerian, Irish and Cherokee. When I was in the military, my unit comprised a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds…and as it turns out, all our blood was red. The Apostle Paul’s sermon to the Athenians on Mars Hill brings our common humanity to the foreground.

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all things; and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being…Acts 17:24-28

Let’s do all we can to be ambassadors of reconciliation, sensitive to the Holy Spirit wherever we find ourselves. Let’s continue to love one another, forgiving and having an attitude of prayer and servanthood. We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The light at the end of the tunnel regarding COVID 19 gets brighter every day. This Friday, 6:30 p.m., we will have a Men’s Meeting in the back area of the church parking lot. Thanks in advance to Pat Bray who is bringing his grill. It will be a good time of food, fellowship and prayer. Also, you will soon be receiving information for an outdoors ladies meeting to be held next week. God bless you and all you touch!

Yours in Christ’s love,

Kevin
