Dear SCC & Friends,
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.~Hebrews 10:35-36
Update #19
Is it possible to throw away your confidence? Apparently so…We throw away things we deem useless, outdated or of no value. The Greek word for confidence is hupo (under) stasis (standing)…literally our understanding. There is much “noise” and many voices on how to remedy the ills of society. It is essential we keep our confidence in Him who is forever faithful and true. The early church and generations thereafter have continually had to navigate the changing tides of history. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in our faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to itthat no one takes you captive (kidnaps you) through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. ~Col. 2:6-8
COVID 19 continues to stretch all of us with the social, educational and medical implications. Also, the polarized political situation and racial tension have added another level of stress and deep societal concern. Through it all, only One reigns supreme, the Lord. Our confidence is established on the firm and unwavering foundation of the Rock of our salvation. He promises storms but also promises to never leave or forsake. May we not merely cope, but thrive in our confidence, knowing that nothing escapes His eye. We represent Him at all times in all places. He remains when all else passes…These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world. ~John 16:33
This Friday at 7:00 p.m., we are gathering for prayer and communion. We will be out back in the open, similar to how we did the first prayer meeting…no childcare, older children are welcome and proper social distancing. Look forward to seeing you. Keep up the good work!
God bless you!
