SCC Covid-19 Update 8/19/20

Dear SCC & Friends,

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.

~Philippians 4:8

Update #24

Last week I got to celebrate my birthday with my family. My dear wife, Dudley, thinks I may be a “birthday diva”…Actually, I’d like to think of it as the stopping of the routine, doing something special and using the opportunity to draw closer to family and friends. It turned out to be a double blessing, as we celebrated on Wednesday and Saturday…lots of laughter, blessings and affirmation are part of those times. On top of that my grandchildren gave me a jar of M&Ms, original drawings and a one-of-a-kind show in the backyard. My two brothers called me, friends texted me, and I was on the receiving end of a beautiful book of cards and notes from so many of you. Thank you always seems inadequate but thank you so very much to each and every one of you.

Maybe I am a “birthday diva” because those special times always bless, and there is so much to be grateful for. Gratitude and love never get old. Birthdays remind us how important it is to communicate love and appreciation when we have opportunity. Not just pleasantries that sound nice, but genuine expressions of how much we mean to each other. That reality comes from our love of the Lord and each other. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering…and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds~Heb. 10:23-24 All the problems are still here, all our present concerns and unanswered questions have not gone away, but God does give us respite in the storm, if we let it happen…I am with you always, even to the end of the age. ~Matthew 28:20 He was there before the day of our birth and remains with us all our days and into eternity. …And in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.~Psalm 139:16b

Thank you, Lord, thank you church! Planning another outdoor prayer and communion service onFriday, August 28th. Keep up the good work!

God bless you and yours,

Kevin
