Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 1/4/23

Dear SCC & Friends,

What is man… ~Psalm 8:4

Reflection #148

We just celebrated New Year’s… a pivotal time recognizing another 600-million-mile orbit around the Sun. Beyond that, our Earth rotates at over 1,000 miles an hour, which facilitates night and day, the seasons…rain, snow, heat, cold… And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. ~Col. 1:17 Winter prepares Spring, Spring brings Summer and Fall ushers in another Winter… In particular, a Winter season can be long, hard and cold, but is necessary to set the table for a beautiful Spring. Jesus is Lord over all the seasons and brings newness in every season of life. How amazing is His creation, provision and care… It is something to behold… When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; what is man, that Thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him? ~Ps. 8:3-4 …Selah…

I know the Lord loves us, but it still amazes me that He does. This may not apply to you, but some of us are just not that loveable… yet we are to Him. God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~Augustine~ He knows everything knowable about us, and He’s put His everlasting love on us. Nothing binds us to the Lord like the strong belief in His changeless love. ~C.S. Lewis~ He’s the friend of sinners but not of sin and accepts us as we are but doesn’t leave us there. These are great days to be alive… Every battle has hidden blessing in it, and every blessing brings to light God’s goodness. The love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior is immeasurable, unchanging and eternal. The ultimate mystery of our lives may be God’s everlasting love. ~Anon.~ Yet in the mystery, we live by faith, in hope through love…We love, because He first loved us. ~1 Jn. 4:19 This is a new year to know, love and serve… Keep up the good work!

His mercies are new every morning,

                                                                             Kevin
