Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 11/1/23

Dear SCC & Friends,

The first day of the week… ~John 20:21

Reflection #191

“All week long, content comes at us from a cacophony of voices. World leaders, political pundits, novelists, sportscasters and journalists, infotainment sites and shows, celebrities and social media stars—everyone has something to say. But on the first day of the week, the day we celebrate the resurrection, someone stands up with an ancient book to deliver a message designed to cut through a noisy world of constant chatter. You’ve heard what everyone else says; now listen to what God says. What follows is an otherworldly message with God at the center.” ~Wax~ Amidst the noise and hoopla, we gather each Sunday to focus our hearts by sanctifying the first day of the week to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ…risen from the dead and reigning in life eternal. What a privilege it is! Guide me in truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. ~Ps. 25:5

Regardless of world events or personal circumstances, our focus is always to be back to Him. …that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection… ~Phil. 3:10 Jesus said, …I will build My church; and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. ~Matt. 16:18 He is building His church with imperfect people like you and me. …we are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. ~1 Cor. 12:27 If you’re looking for the perfect church, it doesn’t exist. Even if it did exist, the moment you or I joined it, it would no longer be perfect. ~Nicky Gumbel~ Sunday is our portal to the rest of the week… weeks turn into months, months to years and years unto a lifetime…May this Sunday and all our Sundays that follow make an eternal difference as we gather unto Him… Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever, amen. ~1 Tim. 1:17 Keep up the good work!

The first day matters,

Kevin
