Dear SCC & Friends,
Suddenly… ~Luke 2:9
Reflection #167
Life is full of unsolicited interruptions, which come whether we like them or not. Interruptions most often seem to have bad timing. The phrase “all of a sudden” refers to something occurring or done quickly, unexpectedly and without warning. Three weeks ago, all was calm… My perfectly healthy wife called me to say she wasn’t feeling good… Over the next twenty-four hours, she submitted to a battery of tests, revealing she had had a mild heart attack, which was “good” only in comparison to the term a major heart attack. She had two surgeries, endured six days in the hospital and is now back home and well on the road to recovery. In one sense we weren’t prepared, other than yielding to a process. In another sense the Lord met us every step of the way. Our family and friends deserve medals for their love, support and prayers. These past few weeks were not our plans, yet God’s purpose was worked out through it all. …we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. ~Rom. 8:28. …Selah…
The Lord’s prevenient grace has been at work in our lives long before we ever recognized it. The truth is of course, that what we regard as interruptions are precisely one’s real life… the life God is sending day by day. ~C.S. Lewis~ Sudden events appear throughout Scripture and throughout our lives. A “suddenly” can change the course of one’s life. Think of the Apostle Paul …he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” ~Acts 9:3-4 Many of us can point to an “unplanned suddenly” that we later realized was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. The Christian church was born in “a suddenly” on the day of Pentecost… And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. ~Acts 2:2 A new “suddenly” with fresh grace is just around the corner. We were made for these days… Keep up the good work!
He oversees it all,
Kevin
