Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 5/3/23

Dear SCC & Friends,

…but be transformed… ~Romans 12:2

Reflection #165

Transformation refers to a dramatic change in structure, form or appearance. I’ve been serious about my Christian faith for many years but have on occasion become annoyed when I heard someone say, “You haven’t changed… You’re the same ole Kevin.” Don’t they get it? Can’t they see it? I’m different, I’m so much better than I was… “I don’t smoke or chew or run with those who do.” No one can get to us faster than those who know us best. We all have relatives born with special skills to push our buttons… “Help us Lord…” Where we are wrong, make us willing to change; where we are right, make us easy to live with and not to react. ~Peter Marshall~ We are reminded if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. ~2 Cor. 5:17 The Greek word for transformation is metamorphoo from which  metamorphosis is derived. It denotes a fundamental change in form, structure or appearance. We recognize the phenomenon of metamorphosis both in nature and theology… tadpole to frog, caterpillar to butterfly and of greatest importance sinner to saint.

The Lord is in the transforming business, bringing us into life and life more abundantly. It is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. ~Phil. 2:13 The same Jesus who can turn water into wine can transform our home, our life, our family and future. He’s still in the miracle working business, and His business is the business of transformation. ~Adrian Rogers~ We are all a work in progress for His honor and glory. We are not what we shall be, but we are on the way; the process is not yet finished, but it has begun. ~Martin Luther~ Our part is not to be conformed to this world but transformed by His love, power and grace. Jesus is the Potter, and we are forever the clay. Indeed, …we are the clay, and You our potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand. ~Isa. 64:8 You were made for these days… Keep up the good work!

                                                                            Transformed by grace,

                                                                             Kevin
