Dear SCC & Friends,
… small things… ~Zechariah 4:10
Reflection #176
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and they that lack the beginning have neither middle or end. ~John Bunyan~ We are accountable to God, knowing He is watching our every action, weighing every motive and aware of our every thought. He’s in it all… …going in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit… ~Acts 9:31 The older I get, the more convinced I am that small and seemingly insignificant things matter a great deal to the Lord… a kind word… a thoughtful gesture… listening and caring… how we treat bad service or respond when inconvenienced… what we impart to our children when the coach doesn’t realize our kid is the “best player on the team”. Our career, our ministry, our godly influence are all important, but “small things” matter and may be our most important assignment. It’s the little everyday things that train our heart and prepare us for more… He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. ~Lk. 16:10
An aspect of character is who we are when no one is looking. We can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but not all the people all the time… and certainly not the Lord… For nothing is hidden that shall not become evident, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light. ~Lk. 8:17 During my teen years in a moment of vulnerability I found myself praying, “I may leave you, but dear Lord please don’t ever leave me.” That prayer was not only answered but sustains me to this present day. May we posture our hearts like the beggar of old, “Lord have mercy…” The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men… ~Ps. 33:13 …That’s you and me… Made for these days… Keep up the good work!
He is faithful,
Kevin
