Dear SCC & Friends,

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His lovingkindness is everlasting. ~Psalm 118:1

Update #90

Four hundred years ago this month, the first Thanksgiving was held in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Governor Bradford made this first Thanksgiving Proclamation three years after the Pilgrims settled at Plymouth: “Inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squashes, and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as He has protected us from the ravages of the savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience. Now I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives and ye little ones, do gather at ye meeting house, on ye hill, between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday, November 29th, of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and twenty-three and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye Pilgrim Rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.” ~William Bradford – Ye Governor

We live in the modern age, a techno-driven era, authenticated by change and perceived progress… But some things never change, not the least of which is a grateful heart. Thanksgiving calls to remembrance God’s love and faithfulness to all of life and a posterity that is far more than we can comprehend. Like saints of old, we join with William Bradford to render thanksgiving for all His blessings. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits… ~Ps. 103:2 Thank you Lord… You’re always there, be it on the highest mountaintop or the deepest valley. Today we are in agreement… It is good to give thanks to the Lord... ~Ps. 92:1… May we also give thanks for our spouse, our children and grandchildren, our friends and neighbors and all you bring into our lives. We were made for these days! Keep up the good work!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Kevin
