I love the Christmas holidays, but I think most of us would agree they can be exhausting. It’s almost like we need a vacation from our vacation. The word “renew” means to give fresh life or strength to… It can also mean to extend for a further period the validity of (a license, subscription, or contract) i.e., We renewed our lease many times before we purchased… Couples renew their wedding vows to honor (make fresh) their promises made many years prior. David sought renewal after his sin with Bathsheba… Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, and sustain me with a wiling spirit. ~Ps. 51:10-12 Unlike us, the Lord neither sleeps nor slumbers, and nothing escapes His eye. January 1st brings in the new year, 2022, which in reality is only a man-made marker within the bounds of eternity. Someone asked, “What exactly is a new year’s resolution? It’s the “to do list” that only lasts through the first week of January.” C.K. Chesterton said, The object of a new year is not that we should have a new year but rather a new soul. It is the Holy Spirit who renews us to be an ongoing blessing to the Lord and those we touch. Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed (made fresh) day by day. ~2 Cor. 4:16He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the renewing of the Holy Spirit…~Titus3:5 May our 2022 be filled with the power, purpose and presence of the Holy Spirit. Remember, we were made for these days… May our individual and corporate resolution be to glorify God in and through our lives… Keep up the good work!
