Weekly Update from Pastor Kevin 7/14/21

Dear SCC & Friends,

Ah Lord God! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee…

~Jeremiah 32:17

Update #71

I’m better than I used to be, but I generally don’t like to read directions. I don’t know why…call it a personality flaw or a “missing link” in my makeup. It’s ironic because I have given much of my life to studying the Bible, which is the ultimate book of directions…an inspired manual which is the very Word of God. We read and reread His instructions, never arriving but doing our best to abide in His Word… A lamp to our feet, and a light to our path. ~Ps. 119:105 His Word is truth, of which we are called to neither ignore nor neglect. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness… ~2 Tim. 3:16 May His Word not only inform us but conform us to His designed will and purpose for our lives. His Word is living and active… and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ~Heb. 4:12 …Selah…

God is the ultimate Designer and Creator of all people, places and things. Astronomers tell us there are 500 billion known galaxies with over 300 billion stars in each galaxy. He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. ~Ps. 147:4 He formed the subatomic particles and gave genetic structure to all of life. When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou has ordained; what is man, that Thou dost take thought of him? ~Ps. 8:3-4a Simply put, He loves us and had something in mind when He made us. We can be absolutely certain that in these most unusual times, the Lord is at work in and through our lives. We are not an abstract concept, but in relationship with Him always and forever. St. Augustine, church patriarch of the fourth century A.D. said it well… “You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.” May we be found faithful… This is our time… May our generation live for the glory of God! Keep up the good work!

Blessings,

Kevin
