Dear SCC & Friends,

And He shall be the stability of your times… ~Isaiah 33:6

Update #76

“The times they are a changing…” A portion of Dylan’s poetic ballad about the political and social upheaval of the 1960’s. For many of you those days are ancient history; for others it seems like yesterday. Change can be defined as a variation or alteration in form, state, quality or essence. We see it all around us, and change comes regardless of whether we like it or not. All we have to do is look in the mirror to realize “we are a changing.” We live in a world of diverse “isms” all vying for power, influence and control. The reality is that… The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it. ~Ps. 24:1 We are called to be in the world but not of itI think of Mordecai confronting Queen Esther… And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this? ~Esther 4:14The Lord is at work in and through our lives. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. ~Ps. 33:11

Over the triple doorways of Milan Cathedral are three inscriptions spanning the magnificent arches. Above one is carved a wreath of roses, with the words, “All that pleases is but for a moment.” Over the second is a cross, with the words, “All that troubles is but for a moment.” Underneath the great central entrance to the main aisle is inscribed: “That only is important which is eternal.” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ~Heb. 13:8 We are rooted in His eternal purposes while living in a world of flux and change. This is our time to serve the Lord with gladness, knowing God is faithful both now and forever. And it is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men, and knowledge to men of understanding. ~Dan. 2:21 Have no fear… On Christ our solid rock we stand, all other ground is sinking sand. May His love and grace sustain us in these days of challenge and change… Keep up the good work!

Rooted in Him,

Kevin
