Dear SCC & Friends,
The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad ~Psalm 126:3
Update #74
If you would not be laughed at, be the first to laugh at yourself. ~Ben Franklin It’s good to laugh, and not take ourselves too seriously. Our youngest daughter Paige was in her senior year, when we drove with her to San Francisco for some quality “away” time to be together and talk about her future. We had been driving six hours and were about an hour outside of the city when Paige asked, “Dad, where’s your suitcase?” “It’s in the back.” “No, it’s not. Paige, quit kidding around, I packed it myself…I know it’s there.” You guessed it, my suitcase, with all my clothes and toiletries, was still sitting by the front door at home. The good news is that everything worked out…I bought a toothbrush and an “Escaped from Alcatraz” tee-shirt which I wore for the next three days. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter… ~Job 8:21a We laughed about it much of the weekend and still laugh when we think about it. Not to be outdone…the time Dudley drove our 9-year-old David to piano practice while enjoying an unusual calm and serene quiet. “O.K. David, hop out and have a good practice,” only to realize he wasn’t in the car… She drove back home and met David at the driveway… “What the heck Mom?” Our misadventures and mistakes remind us that it all works out in the end. A joyful heart is good medicine. ~Prov. 17:22
Make me know Thy ways, O Lord; teach me Thy paths. ~Ps. 25:4 The life we’ve lived is a compilation of shared memories – some paths have been very serious and difficult, while others are hilariously funny and unexpected – We need them both… A time to weep, and a time to laugh… ~Ecc. 3:4 Measured plans and unexpected detours give way in the midst of God’s sovereignty. The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. ~ Prov. 16:9 The Lord is for us even with the certain uncertainty we face each and every day. New paths are before us, paths of freedom and victory in Jesus over sin and death. …Captive Israel was set free and returned to their homeland… Then their mouths were filled with laughter, and their tongues with joyful shouting… ~Ps. 126:2a We too have been set free… It’s good to laugh… It’s good to shout with joy! May we choose faith over fear, gladness over grumbling…knowing He does all things well. We belong to Him who is with us now and forever! Keep up the good work!
Yours in Christ,
Kevin
