All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives. ~Prov.16:2It’s one thing for God to judge our outward actions, it’s quite another to realize the Lord actually weighs ours motives. He measures “the why” we do something as much as “the what or how” we do something. David, a man after God’s heart postured it well… God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too—your reassuring presence, coming and going. So much of life’s focus can be about controlling people and circumstances. I saw a card recently that said, “As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I am totally flexible.” We may try, but we really don’t control much. In fact, we are totally dependent on God’s sovereignty… None of us had anything to do with today’s sunrise or the ebb and flow of the tides. All of us can see storm clouds on the horizon, but we cannot control outcomes. We can control how we prepare and respond…seeking and allowing the love of Christ to control us. God requires faith in these uncertain times… Remember… For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. ~Col. 1:16-17 We were made for these days… The Lord will never leave you; The Lord will never forsake you… Keep up the good work!
